Trump after conversation with Putin. "He is concerned"

The Russian leader "is concerned" about possible further sanctions and "realizes" that they may be introduced - this is how Donald Trump commented on the conversation with Vladimir Putin. The US president also contacted Volodymyr Zelensky - Kiev raised the issue of Patriot missile deliveries to Ukraine.

After a phone call with Putin on Thursday, Trump said he had failed to make any progress on the war in Ukraine and was not happy about it.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said after the conversation between the two leaders that Russia would prefer to achieve its goals in Ukraine through political and diplomatic means, but that this would not stop the "special military operation" (the Kremlin's term for the war in the East - ed.).

Trump also said on Air Force One on Friday that he had discussed the possibility of sending Patriot air defense missiles to Ukraine during a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

War in Ukraine. US suspends important military aid

On Tuesday, the White House announced a halt to the transfer of some air defense missiles to Ukraine. Deputy White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly said the decision was made to " put America's interests first."

On Thursday, the American leader, when asked why the United States had stopped delivering some weapons to Ukraine, replied that this had not happened and that the United States was continuing to transfer weapons to Ukraine.

"We give them weapons, we work with them, we try to help them. But (former President Joe) Biden has drained our entire country of weapons, giving them weapons. And we have to make sure we have enough, " Trump said.

According to Axios, "Trump said he wants to help with air defense and that he would review what, if anything, was held back."

The American president refused to name the countries to which the letters would be sent first.

The 90-day suspension of these tariffs expires on July 9. Contrary to his earlier statements, Trup said on Wednesday that he is not considering extending this deadline
